Philosophy Statement - Tauākī Rapunga Whakāro
Rutherford Preschool is a community childcare Centre which acknowledges and supports parents/whānau as primary caregivers.
We believe in learning as a life-long process, based on Rutherford College’s founding principal, Eric Clarke’s, vision of learning being from the ‘Cradle to the Grave’.
We acknowledge that each child is an individual, and therefore value and support everyone’s uniqueness and individuality.
Our free-development play programme, aims to provide a calm, caring, warm, nurturing environment to foster the children’s all-round development (physical, cultural, social, emotional, intellectual), together with self-esteem, self-discipline and independence.
We are guided by the NZ Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whariki (Te Ara Whanui).
